Rhyl Airshow 2011

I don't normally put old photos up but these are what I took as a spectator on the beach at last years Rhyl Airshow . It is a fantastic free event and will be on again the weekend of 6th and 7th August . If you are anywhere near I fully advise going . What a fabulous free event . The link below will take you to the show homepage

( I'll posting some pics of it myself in a couple of weekends )

#1 Camera Modification

My first attempt at a Camera modification . Bought a cheap 35mm camera , attached fishing wire so I can re-set the shutter trigger without winding the camera/ film on a bit like a Lomography camera

Needs a bit more work to stop the shutter sticking , ( if you look closely you can see the wiring where the metal shutter creates a circuit that sets off the flash.......

I used a Rambo knife to drill a hole in the side for the fish wire . I will be posting results when I have used a reel of film . This camera really is a heap of junk so I will probably have to tape everything up to stop light creeping in

1930's Coronet camera bought for £1 from a car boot sale

Enlarged view through viewfinder you should be able to make out the window

I hope this bad boy works because I have already have several rolls of film on order for it  ( the film costing wayyy more than the camera ) . If and when I can afford to get the film processed I will post the results

The shutter still works will just need to clean it up a little but that's what you can expect from a camera that was made before the 2nd world war

Update couple of pics I have taken with the camera and home developed

So the camera does work but It is quite a struggle to keep it still and operate the shutter mechanism ( especially on a windy beach)

Cage fighting event Muai Thai and MMA Liquid Wrexham .

Great cage fighting event yet again this evening , will be sorting and posting more over the next few days . This is one of my fave pics of this evenings event . The fighter on the left had won and went over to show his respect to his opponent whilst he was getting treatment ........ Now you don't see that in football . I have published this MMA image in tone mapped HDR . Hope you like more to come

Summer League Denbighshire . As far as I am aware the Summer League is the only football league in the UK where players MUST come from the town / village that they play for . More info on the league available here : Summer league home

UK Passport Photos and ID Cards

NOT great examples of passport poses
I recently got asked to do some passport photos of my niece and nephew . I wasn't sure how to get the dimensions right but found this great Passport photo maker online : PORTRAIT BOOTH

With a little cropping correction you can get up to 8 passport photos for the price of a 6 x 9 photo ( 38p at today's price )

UK Government guidelines for passport photos available on this following link : UK Gov guidelines on passport photos

I don't want to sound patronising ( That means talking to people in a condensing manner ;) ) , but unless you really know what you are doing there are many photo booths and pro photography studios that will take these pictures at a relatively low cost . Going to these places may take the stress out of being delayed or denied passports / Visa's because the quality of the image or dimensions are incorrect . It may however be a good alternative for NUS / NUJ / NUF cards that may not need such strict adherence to guidelines

Have a go and see for yourself

Bangor City vs HJK Helsinki UEFA Cup Round 1

What a scrum .....

Away fans celebrate goal

Bangor playing HJK Helsinki . Bangor will now go through to the round 2 with a 3 goal deficit

Bangor did have several refereeing decisions go their way but with many ( and legitimate ) calls for pushing / shoving / rugby tackling in the area falling on deaf ears . Good luck in the 2nd round
