FIGHT Report Liquid Wrexham July 8th 2012


On Sunday 8th July 2012  the traditional boxing ring was favored over  the cage for the Russ Williams Promotion Championship Thai and Kickboxing event at Liquid Nightclub Wrexham

The first bout was a demo between Jack Large and Matt Knockthat ended in a draw

Dylan Lee  of Merseyside Boxing beat Lloyd Copeland of Russ Williams gym in a 3 X 1.5  min bout

Liam Simons of Team Kilbride won against Fahad Manier of Leicester Kickboxing

Tom Lawlor of Merseyside Kickboxing beat Nathan Sherwood of Russ Williams / Will Killow Gym Caerwys

Gareth Eke of Warriors Kickboxing Norfolk  lost his bout against Ste Allen of Team Kilbride

Craig Poole of Thomas Thai lost against  Anthony Smythe of Russ Williams Gym Wrexham

Gaz Oates of Alex Gym Mold was visibly disappointed on not being able to carry on his fight after opponent Ashleigh Kendell of Warrior Kickboxing Norfolk refused to fight on after being kicked below the belt early on in the first round

The European ISKA Title eliminator and 4 nations kick boxing title fight between Eugene Valerio of Russ Williams / Taz Muai Thai gym and Malcom Griffin of Free To Flow Power of County Kerry Ireland was called off at the eleventh hour when Griffin despite having traveled over changed his mind and refused to fight


Arguably one of the best fights of the night was between the two female fighters . The experienced Danielle Peters of Wolf's Lair Warrington VS the lighter  Lucia Galova of Russ Williams / Will Killow Caerwys . This was Lucias first fight and both women showed great fitness and dedication in an extremely energetic and fast moving bout

Ashleigh Breigh of Leicester Kickboxing was defeated by Alan Davies of Taz Muai Thai

Liam Conwell of Team Kilbride later discovered that he had fractured his arm in the first round of his 5 x 2 minute fight for the ISKA North West Thai Boxing Light Middleweight Title VS Marc Evans of Russ Williams Gym Caerwys. Despite the fracture the fight went the distance with Marc Evans retaining his title by a judges decision

The final fight of the evening was between Mike Egan of Llandudno Next Generation gym and Robin Humphreys of Pritchards Martial Arts Caernarfon and was for the ISKA Four nations Middleweight Kickboxing Title . By the end of the fight the whole audience were on their feet willing their fighters on . Mike Egan was successful and awarded the belt after the 7 X 2 minute rounds went the distance

Boxers Damian Tryfanow and Andy Jones' opponents pulled out between the weigh in and the fight

The organizers wished to thank the  600+ people for giving the event such a great atmosphere & for the sponsors Cynergy Security & Penny Black Cafe Bar.

Event organizers have stated that due to increased costs and less sponsorship this may unfortunately be the last time this event takes place .... Anyone wishing to provide sponsorship for possible future events are asked to contact Russ Williams
