Street Party Prestatyn . Lots of parties managed to get some amount of sponsorship this particular party had much of its food donated by local but national business Iceland .

Bunting on Prestatyn High street

Just as I set this shot up a guy walked behind and grabbed the ' Princess ' Just got one shot off before he disappeared !!

Yesterday was spent chasing round Denbighshire getting photos of street parties in the region . I had a list of where some were and found others either by chance or word of mouth .

Bank Holiday weekend

My Dad stood on the site of his old workshop position . He worked here from when he was 15 years old up until 1997 when the Coal mine closed . I have wanted to get a picture of my dad here for a long time but he does not really like his photo being taken !

Spent a great day on the beach Friday with friends and family . The weather was sooooo nice .
I'm not massive on posting family pics on here but it really has been a family weekend . This was taken just before going out to celebrate Crys's birthday . Camera on tripod and remote flash just aiming at the lens . Kinda reminds me of the best of Blondie album cover ( Although it's nothing like it )

Lomography reel #4

This was one of the better pics and was taken to use the film up

Cage Fighting Lomography style .  ( That wasn't my finger honest )

Aah expired film . ( Talacra Lighthouse )

So I found some film in my dads caravan that expired in 2006 and as he is part of the digital age now I had it . Wasn't expecting much as the caravan reaches scorching heat in summer , I was actually surprised anything came out . From a 24 exposure 12 came out . The above pics are the best of the crop .

I'm still trying to find an actual practical commercial use for Lomography cameras . I think the pic proves that cage fighting is not one of them .

Windows XP ( My New Hobby )

Are you like me embarrassed that your computer runs on Vista ? Or are you a Linux fan but always quite liked that jolly rolling XP hillside scene ? Well lucky for you I have a new hobby called " Photographing hills that look like the windows XP background . "

The above picture was actually taken in Gwyddelwern near Corwen in North Wales . Yes normally we only see the sun on tv documentaries or in books but today he was definitely smiling

I have spent literally about 5 minutes years of my life drove past and thought that will do scouring the Welsh countryside World looking for a couple of pics that look a bit similar for a laugh an exact fit . I can't tell you how much it has improved my computers performance since having it as a background . People no longer point and say Vista LOOOSER .

Screen shot from my computer

You too can  have this improved quality and performance just click on the top link and save as. First person to send me a photo with a thumbs up and this background on their computer screen wins a packet of After Eight Mints a packet of chewing gum

But beware I have found several fields that look like the Vista background it has come to my attention that there have been several phony attempts at copying me see below for details

Other side of the field Flipped horizontally

I know not even close right ?

Just look at this awful effort
Field near Horseshoe Pass Llangollen

I know looks nothing like it . The field is straight for a start

Also near Horseshoe Pass Llangollen

All above images are real . I have cropped some and changed the lighting levels but other that that they are as shot . More to come . I seem to be seeing the background everywhere at the moment .

I know no clouds right ?

Ok it has been far too long since I have collected a few more images of hillsides that look like windows XP . Here are a few more I collected recently near Betws Y Coed and the A5

Sun through the clouds changing the colour of hillside

That background bit in the background here as well

Well my psychiatrist says I should have a hobby . But what does he know he's a talking jack russel

Cage fighting pics #2

Cage fighting pics #1

Bit of a late night last night at the Cage Fighting Muai Thai and MMA event in Wrexham

Started at 6.30 and didn't finish till 23.00 ! Needless to say my back was in bits by the end of this

A very enjoyable night with great respect between these athletes . I shot with flash at this event for the first time yesterday , I don't normally as I don't want to put anybody off but nobody seemed to mind so I got some nice pics

I shot in 3 different ways . Without flash just using ambient light , with flash and normal shutter speed , with flash  and with slow shutter speed and ISO . The results are massively different . I'll be posting more later when I get chance but there is a basic Idea of what I have done in the above pics

Enjoy !

As well as a thoroughly entertaining night the bonus was I never got bled on ( As has happened every other time ) . Bet if I wasn't prepared with wipes and spare shirt I would have been covered in sweat and blood !!!! Ha ha

Talacre Beach

Talacre Beach North Wales

I took a nice long walk along Talacre beach in the sun this evening made me feel sooooo much better

First day this year I have been able to wear shorts and shirt and not be cold .... Roll on summer

Although the lighthouse is a great focal point I think it has been done to death and it's a bit harder to get a different angle on it. Not really now but later in the summer there is so much wildlife and insects near . I would love as well to get a pic of horses with their riders in the sea , that happens quite often as well .

Most images  all images were taken with my Holga £12 lens and Canon 40D

Big Weekend highlights # 3 as shot

As Shot

First glimpse of the above pictures and you may think I have churned them through several filters in photoshop and changed the lighting / colour balance .  The truth is much simpler..........

Big Weekend highlights # 2 The DJ's

Radio 1 DJ'S

As I have not really looked at the photos of the Big Weekend Bangor since last May I forgot just quite how much material I have . Rather than post too much I think I'm gonna have to have some themes today's being DJ'S at the event . Try Guess them all Here's the list :

Aled Haydn Jones, Chris Moyles, Edith Bowman, Fearn Cotton, Greg James, Jo Whiley, Pete Tong . ., Scott Mills, The Big Dog, Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Vernon Kay, Zane Lowe and Wales' own Huw Stephens

Big Weekend highlights # 1

Florence And The Machine and Rhianna

I will have a sort through some of my fave photos from the Radio One event last year that brought so much publicity and famous musicians to the area . Over the next few weeks I'll be posting more pictures of the celebs ( Well it will be good for the Google search hit rate with all these pics of celebs on my Blog . I think Rhianna and Justin Bieber are welded in the top 10

It was such an exciting 2 days working there and the weather was scorching ( Hotter than Ibiza ) the whole weekend . More updates and celebs coming soon ( Not that I'm a massive celeb person myself )

The Feeling

The Feeling ( Just to save confusion these guys were NOT in Bangor )

I took this photo a while back now of a  band called The Feeling

I like to only really blog recent stuff . I just needed to upload an image to see if the Nokia application was working as photos wee not showing on the application( Over 2000 users of the application last month .... sweet ! Search 'Cymru' so far my app is the only one with that tag word  ) . Today the blog has had visits from as far afield as Mauritius , Guatemala and Saudi Arabia . Not bad for something called 'Welshphotoguy' I think it must be Wales' universal appeal

Anyway this was a job in Llandudno of all places . It was actually a very good concert and great atmosphere . I went to watch The Kooks play live there a few weeks later it was still a great concert but the atmosphere was a little off

Will have to sort through my Radio One Big Weekend Bangor stuff soon and post them . Nearly a year now since I covered it .
