RHYL Town on the Dole story in The Sunday Sun

Gronant Street in Rhyl was used to illustrate a 'typical street' in Rhyl.
This area has been compulsory purchased and is set for demolition very soon and
turned into a 'green area' hence the boarded up doors and windows

If you want a pic of Rhyl seafront looking busy you just have to go at the right time !

Rhyl FC Stadium has hosted 2 European games this season

And a friendly against Manchester City

I have just finished reading the Sunday Sun's 'Town On The Dole' expose and am horrified by what it implies

Growing up in the area and working as a photographer for the Rhyl Journal for the past 6 years I'm really angry at the way the town has been portrayed

I notice that there was no allowance for local MP's and Am's Chris Ruane or Anne Jones to have their say anywhere OR any comeback from local community leaders or councillors

It's pretty easy to kick someone when they are down but Claiming that 80% of Rhyl is on the dole is absolute bullshit

Yes Rhyl has many problems not unlike many seaside towns but by the way it is being portrayed you would think it was a no go area !

The opening of Park Prestatyn has taken many jobs from the town but it has also created hundreds only one train stop from Rhyl station itself

I do think something needs to be done about the cost of a ticket across the North Wales coast as they are far too expensive for people to commute daily

The Welsh Assembly Government were more interested in Buying a failing airport for political reasons rather than invest sensibly in North Wales

The council are planning on Demolishing Rhyl's most famous brand 'The Suncentre,' and are in talks to build a new swimming center , while I agree that the building may be beyond economical repair Demolishing the 'Suncentre' brand would be commercial suicide a bit like Coca Cola changing its name too Brownsugarwater

Rhyl's new harbour bridge for bikes and pedestrians taking shape
Rhyl's new harbour bridge has come under fire for the amount spent on it compared to its surrounding community

Yes the bridge has cost a lot of money but it has been built in a part of the community that needs re- investment

The bridge is already an Iconic landmark with people constantly stopping to take photos of it

I think that Rhyl should adopt the name of of a famous Submarine that broke anchor in Rhyl harbour . It was called Resurgam ( Latin for I Shall Rise Again )
